Short ‘n’ sweet

In odyssey on October 23, 2009 by dmosbon

Sometimes things just don’t feel right, no matter what you try.

I’ve blogged on the WordPress platform for almost 3 years, in one guise or another, but I feel it’s time for me to move on. It’s not blogging that I tire from but just the platform I have got so comfortable using. Maybe I have got too comfortable? WordPress is not a poor platform for blogging but I think to get the best from it, self-hosting is the way to go. I also believe that WordPress is geared more towards the aspirations of a website proper, rather than for blogging.

So once again, guys and girls, I’m laying to rest another blogging exercise but more than that, part of my blogging history has come to a close. I do feel a little sad, mixed with a strange sense of relief, that my time blogging here on WordPress is over. But as the saying goes, ‘as one door closes, so another door opens’.

See you over at Blogger!

  • This guide was created using an Xbox 360, but is exactly the same for the Playstation 3 (PS3).
You can also join in lots of discussions about Assassin’s Creed in the Forums, where you can also find an Achievements guide for the Xbox 360 version of Assassin’s Creed, along with plenty of other tips and advice to help you on your way.

Desert island disc

In videogaming on October 17, 2009 by dmosbon

The idea of being stuck with just one videogame title, for all time, is unimaginable to all but the purist. So living with just one title, until old father time punches out your last card, would probably torture even the oldest of souls.

But if you could stomach it, what would be that videogame title and why?

Mine?

Well it would have to be FIFA…

Desert island choice

It’s so easy to drop in and out of a gaming session and I love the fact that I can emulate a standard of footballing prowess that I’d never achieve in Real Life®.

Thanks to copperbird for the inspiration for this post.

Dark Entries on a new crime line

Dark Entries from Vertigo Crime

So there I was, looking to spend my birthday book tokens on something I’d actually read and not just lump onto my bookcase. From my fumblings through a very small graphic novel section at a chain book store, I picked out the unusual sized Dark Entries from Vertigo and their new Crime line of graphic novels.

I finished reading the book last night and have mixed feelings about the story and artwork. Ian Rankin may write a good crime novel but as a comic book writer, Dark Entries feels a little forced and un-involving. Over the course of the 214 pages, the black and white artwork doesn’t breath enough life into the story for me to say I really enjoyed it. Especially in a character like that of the main protagonist, John Constantine.

Essentially a look at Limbo and its place between Heaven and Hell, Dark Entries doesn’t bring much that is new or develops the Constantine ethos. It instead aims for some obvious and forgettable blows towards reality TV and its fans.

Filty Rich but no capflap, I hope!

I do like the format given to Vertigo Crime, a self-contained black and white inked story in a hardback off-size(slightly bigger than standard paperback) but I expect more for my £15. Maybe Filthy Rich has more to offer with Brian Azzarello(100 Bullets) onboard as writer – It certainly looks that way from the preview that I have seen.
